Ok, that's the short answer.

The long answer: Yes it's of course included in the *distribution*,
however only the CLIENT part of Samba is installed when you do a
default install from CD. The client part allows you to access shares
on a Widnows network FROM your Ubuntu computer.

[** Now, keep in mind that 'Ubuntu-The-Distribution' is not the same
thing as 'Ubuntu-The-Installer-CD'. Lots of stuff that's part of the
*distribution* is not on the CD but available for easy installation
from the online repositories. ]

So, if you want to share folders on your Ubuntu computer so
Windows PC's can access it, then you need to install the full samba
server as well.

Like with most things Ubuntu, a good place to start is http://ubuntuguide.org/
Follow the steps to the letter! You can always tweak and experiment later!

Cheers,
Chanchao
