Hi,
This thread interests me somewhat, as I try to evangelise Linux as much
as I can.
Okay lets take it to its logical conclusion, the echoing of what is
going on to the boot up screen tells us if something *bad* is wrong, but
lets be honest not that many people actually bother try to read the
output, the 'exception report it' read the red flags of fail and wonder
why.
If stuff was to be hidden, I would like the following options.
(A) press F* for normal or debug screen
(B) press F* to remove the debug screen and take up with the opening
graphic.
High performance car makers do not force the user to listen to anything
other than the exhaust note, so I suppose high performance computers
could do the same.
F1 teams may read lots of telemetry from the cars, this is optional
because lots of people go to the sport and watch the cars on race
tracks, and many millions more watch it on TV.
If we admit that many millions more do not care one jot about the boot
process, they just want the box to work, then it seems to me that the
options listed above are the way to go.
Just some ramblings of yet another happy Ubuntu user.
