I run Asterisk at Home... at home. ;) It's nice if you just want to set
up a dedicated computer to act as a PBX for you, and not really have
to know anything about how to install or maintain Linux servers or
phone systems. You just pop in a CD, boot the system, and watch it
wipe your hard drive and install itself. Once it finishes doing its
thing, you have a CentOS-based system running a pre-configured
Asterisk server with a web front-end to things such as configuration,
voicemail, etc.
If you don't want to dedicate a computer to just being a PBX system,
run Asterisk on your distro of choice. You won't get all of the fancy
web interfaces that A at H provides, unless you install them yourself,
but you'll probably get a little more flexibility, since you can
configure * to do whatever you need it to, without a web gui and
someone else's idea of how things should be set up getting in your
way.
