mkinitrd failure

Hi,
I have servers with 3 raid partitions one raid1, the other two raid 5.
Raid1 is mounted as boot.
Every time I update packages the package manager tries to configure the
linux image package
and fails with the following error:

file descriptor 1 left open
.......
file descriptor 7 left open

finding all volume groups

no volume groups found
/usr/sbin/mkinitrd: /dev/evms/.nodes/hdc2: Cannot find LVM device
failed to create initrd image.

I have no volume groups and logical volumes created.

How can I fix this problem (the evms packages were also removed) ????
