(Breezy) Help me get X.org running again?

After today's lates upgrade, I had to 'rm -rf /etc/X11/xkb' in order to 
get one of the packages to install.  I also needed to do a dist-upgrade 
in order to get xserver-xorg and its myriad of dependencies.

Now I notice that I can no longer get to a VC with 
'ctrl-alt-F1'.  I assume this is a problem with the new keyboard 
code.
