No, as written before, you should use Synaptic (or apt, if you insist)
and choose to install a package called "kubuntu-desktop". This is
quite a heavy download, and will install KDE next to Gnome. After it's
finished, logout of your Gnome-session, and you'll see your
login-screen again. Here, you can choose which desktop-environment to
use.
The same goes for other environments like XFCE for that matter.
