how to get apt-get to install from source

i was looking into apt-get and found it has the option download source code 
and then compile it also.
i treid to install firestarter this way cuz firestarter was not working 
well.
now apt-get says

> E: You must put some 'source' URIs in your sources.list



can anyone tell me these source urls.
