I am not able to reproduce your problem. I just want to make sure
that I am trying the right thing though. I put an e and an a using
the right windows key that you mentioned and they come out
as below (hopefully they are interpreted correctly over email).
Is that what you mean? Those characters come out the same
in gedit and the latest openoffice.org2 (I am running breezy)
Which option did you pick in the Preferences -> Keyboard -> Layout options ?
