creating logfile (shell command)

Do you mean that you yourself wrote a program called bdc,
and now you want to figure out how to set it up for logging?

Or do you mean that you're using a pre-existing program
called bdc, and you wonder whether there's already a command
in bdc to get it to save to a log?

Do you mean that somewhere in the man page for bdc, it tells
you that '--log[=file]' will create a log for you? What
happens when you try that? Try doing

bdc --log=~/logfile.txt

then look in ~/logfile.txt and see if anything's there.
