You could also try installing the KDE meta-package.  A straight
Kubuntu installation leaves out several choice pieces of software that
I believe are important to the KDE experience....like Digikam, etc.

A stock Kubuntu install also leaves out the Koffice suite...which
still has some catching up to do, but is already becoming my preferred
office suite.
