gnomebaker audio CD copy verrrrry slow

I'm trying to use gnomebaker to copy an audio CD; my CD drive is less
than a year old and has DMA enabled. gnomebaker's been extracting the
audio tracks for twenty minutes now, and it's only 44% done. What's
going on here? All I want is a bit-for-bit copy of the CD.
