But using an alternate wifi channel on your router, and specifying that 
explicitly on the XP machine may help.  *Do* setup the encryption etc., as 
others have mentioned, if you're close enough to others to pickup their 
networks.  Even if you're not, people can still pickup your network from a 
distance with special antennae, so it's serious stuff.
