laptop is Dell inspiron 5000
have two wireless cards, rather old (802.11b) Linksys instant wireless
version 2.5 wpc 11 and Belkin f5d6020 no version number given.
According to research I've done on the net, I used cardctrl to try and
identify the card. In each case, the wireless card was in slot 0.
Belkin was not identified. Linksys was.
::::::::::::::
/tmp/ident-belkin
::::::::::::::
Socket 0:
no product info available
Socket 1:
product info: "3Com Corporation", "3CCFE575BT", "LAN Cardbus Card", "001"
manfid: 0x0101, 0x5157
function: 6 (network)

Card", "

so I added
card "Linksys WPC11 11Mbps 802.11b WLAN Card"
version "Instant Wireless ", " Network PC CARD", "Version 2.5"
manfid: 0x0274, 0x1612
bind "orinoco_cs"
and according to the instructions, I added the above to the PCMCIA
configuration file. No detection, and if I load the driver manually, I
don't get any additional ethernet interfaces created
the next "feature" deals with shutting the lid. Everything seems to
work fine except when open the laptop and log in again, something times
out and you're forced back to a login screensaver about every 10 to 15
seconds. What's that all about?.
would be nice category: pushing the power button once and have it go
into hibernation.
another what does this mean question:
Jul 9 12:32:42 localhost kernel: ACPI-0405: *** Error: Handler for
[EmbeddedControl] returned AE_TIME
Jul 9 12:32:42 localhost kernel: ACPI-1138: *** Error: Method
execution failed [\_SB_.BAT0._BST] (Node \
dfba72e0), AE_TIME
getting closer all the time to perfect.
