You can install *smeg* to edit the menu.

Alternatively you can create a *myapplication.desktop* file, you edit
it with a text editor and write something like (this one is for
Openoffice math application):

[Desktop Entry]

Version=1.0

Encoding=UTF-8

Name=OpenOffice.org 1.9 Math

Terminal=false

Icon=/usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/openofficeorg-19-math.png

Type=Application

InitialPreference=2

Categories=Application;Office;X-Red-Hat-Base;X-SuSE-Core-Office;

Exec=/opt/openoffice.org1.9.113/program/soffice -math %U

MimeType=application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.formula;application/vnd.sun.xml.math;application/vnd.stardivision.math;

Comment=Create and edit scientific formulas and equations by using
Math.

Comment[en]=Create and edit scientific formulas and equations by using
Math.

and then you copy it to: /usr/share/applications/

I think that's all. Am I right?

However I find easier to use smeg.

Ciao,

Lorenzo
