I've got to agree with you Shawn.  While it isn't the full on RTFM that
you can find, it isn't a great help to a new user who is overwhelmed by
the heavy traffic on the list.

In fact I have already sent the guy full instructions on how to quit the
list, and have written and stored a pre-prepared email of instructions
to send the next time this comes up;  it does come up quite frequently,
certainly several times a month.

However, now that I think about it, the whole unsubscribe business could
and *should* be made easier for new users.  The welcome email does tell
you how, but implies (wrongly) that you must use your password as part
of the unsubscribe process.  Also, having to scroll to the bottom of the
page and then go to another page is less helpful than just finding a
simple button staring you in the face as soon as you start to follow the
link for unsubscribing.

It might even be worth not bothering with the unsubscribe confirmation
email.  Lets face it, if you were 'maliciously unsubscribed' you'd just
subscribe again...

Any thoughts, anyone?
