The Ubuntu mail system adds a footer to all messages which includes the
following URI http://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-users (it
may be that your mail reader removes this in an attempt to be
helpful...).

If you use your web browser to go to that link and scroll down the page
you will find a button labeled "Unsubscribe or edit options".  Put the
email address you are using to receive list mailings from Ubuntu in the
box to the left of the button, and then click the button.  After that,
follow the instructions on the subsequent pages.  You will receive a 'Do
you really want to unsubscribe?' message, which you must respond to to
complete your removal from the list.
