No sound

i have a quite similar problem with my Sound blaster live.
When i play a cd with cd player, it works quite nice (i have analog
wires from my dvd reader do the sbl card); however when i try to listen
some sound (ogg) from rhythmbox the sound gets out throughout the sound
card from my mother board (PIII, sound chip via82...)and not from my
Sound blaster

does anyone have any ideas to use "totally" my sound blaster?
