I think you have to use WMware Workstation 5, they have just released RC1.
You can apply to be a beta tester.
This is from the readme:
*Support for 64-bit Hosts*
Workstation 5 improves the experimental support offered in version 4,
supporting 64-bit host hardware including the AMD Opteron, Athlon 64 and
Intel IA-32e. Workstation also supports new 64-bit host operating
systems, including SUSE 9.1, and Windows XP 64-bit edition (experimental
support), and Windows Server 2003 64-bit edition (experimental support).
I got this mail today:
Dear VMware customer,
We are pleased to announce that VMware Workstation 5 RC1
is now available. The highlights of this release are:
* Updated wizard for Teams
* Templates to better support clones
* Enhanced command line interface
* Option to create 'legacy' virtual machines
* Debug mode disabled
* Localization support for Japanese
* Experimental support for Direct3D
You can download the binaries by clicking on Download Beta
at: http://www.vmware.com/products/desktop/ws5_beta.html.
Once you download the binaries from the location above,
your serial keys will be automatically sent to you via email.
Thank you for participating in the beta program. We look
forward to your feedback.
Best regards,
The VMware Team
