Greetings,
I noticed some apparently strange network activity on a machine at work
today. I have a 4 machines, three running Ubuntu and 1 Mandrake all
plugged into a hub (that in turn is plugged into the work network). I
always have gkrellm running as a one glance "what is the system doing
right now?" thing. Eth0 was showing 6 or 7kb of activity while the
machines next to it were showing 0 - as expected.
The only thing I found that I didn't recognise was the following found
in the output of ps -ax
pickup -l -t fifo -u -c
I don't recall ever seeing it before. I can't find a manual entry for
pickup or anything in apropos either.
Is there a connection between the two things?
What is pickup ?
thanks
David
