Looking for libstdc++.so.6 (was: Alien help for newbie).

I installed all of the dictionaries (yeah, I finally
caught on to the tar file thing... the instructions
were for the .tar file version) and tried to start
StarDict. It just quits when started from the
Accessories menu, it does the same from the command
line, but the command line returns:

$ stardict
stardict: error while loading shared libraries:
libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No
such file or directory

What library is this? I don't find anything in
apt/synaptic and I haven't found anything on the
StarDict web site: http://stardict.sourceforge.net/ It
is supposed to be a GNOME app, so I kind of thought
that this problem would be obvious, but it doesn't
seem to be. Anyone have any ideas what this lib is and
where to get a version that will work with Ubuntu?

Cheers,

Brian
