FAT32 stealth hard drive at /dev/hdb?

I have it set up to /mnt/fat32 and it does show up
there, but it should appear under Computer -> Disks as
well or on my Desktop as a CD-ROM does, shouldn't it.
I am a GNOME newbie, so maybe I am missing the logic
of this?
