I have the warty running on a machine here, and I'm trying to get
mplayer to work. With the default /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf in place, I
would get this error:

######pasted output######
######pasted output######
MPlayer 1.0pre5-3.3.4 (C) 2000-2004 MPlayer Team

Reading config file /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf
Illegal instruction
######end output######
######end output######

I had to comment out almost all the options in /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf
before I could get rid of the "Illegal instruction". I left in
"ao=alsa" but everything else seemed to give that "Illegal Instruction"
error.

but still it wouldn't work. Here's the output I'm getting now:

- MPlayer crashed by an 'Illegal Instruction'.

- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and

- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your
gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We
can't and
won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a

so it looks like there is a problem with the audio.. I'm using all the
default audio config settings for ubuntu (I haven't messed with it).
when I uncommented the "nosound = 1" line in the mplayer.conf file, I
got the first error again ("Illegal Instruction"), so I couldn't try the
file with no sound.

I'm out of ideas on this one, but if anyone out there can help that
would be much appreciated :)
