Yay!  Thanks a million, Chris.

We are using apt-cacher as a substitute until apt-proxy gets updated.  
It works fine, but no ftp support.  And no pool structure.

I saw that an update is moving in to sid soon to fix the db permissions 
issue, so you may want to wait, or grab that patch, or whatever (I'm 
still not too clear on how or when universe/unstable syncs up).
