(no subject)

Hi guys.  Slight newb here.  I know a bit about using linux and basic 
commands, but nothing at all techy.  Anyway, I just need some help w/ 
an issue I've been having.

How can I get packages for ubuntu from a different computer (such as a 
mac or win) and then install them from a cd or removeable storage?
