Probably b/c it's not as unstable as Windows 98 was "back in the day".
10 times in three months. I'd be happy if Win 98 didn't crash 10 times
in one day ;P... plus, Linux is still a pretty new OS... it's coming
along nicely (two years ago I couldn't get into it... now it's easy
enough that even I can figure things out).

Why wait, I have run into a grand total of one kernel seg fault, it
was my fault and I've got to figure out where to file that bug report
(where it won't immediately be dismissed out of hand by someone as
"you shouldn't do that")...
I shut my laptop's lid (ergo putting it to sleep), pulled out my USB
TurboMouse while the lid was shut, it woke up, wouldn't go back to
sleep again so I opened up the lid and it reported a kernel seg fault
and Ubuntu was having problems with eth1. Ideally, waking up in that
situation should cause the laptop to go through the wake up procedure,
promptly followed by another sleep procedure.
