Problems should arise only with internal (PCI) modems. With serial modems you do not even need a driver from the manufacturer: you can use them directly. In order to use a serial modem you only have to specify the correct device: this is /dev/ttyS0 if your serial modem is attached to "COM1" /dev/ttyS1 if attached to "COM2" ... and so on. -- m4ng0
