Where's a good starting point for using Wine?

I was very ignorant when it came to use Wine. I just apt-get install wine
wine-setup, then, when I left root mode, I've simply run wine-setup. My
friend who is running Windows put a WinAMP installation and a Photoshop
trail. See here: http://www.opi.mnc.pl/winamp_on_linux.png it's a screenshot
of a WinAMP. Works flawless. I did a trick and installed Photoshop while
playing some MP3 with WinAMP.

There's only one thing I failed to run. And this is what I miss badly. All
Macromedia software hangs after InstallationShield quits unpacking stage.
