I have never used any USB device on Ubuntu so far. This is the first
time ever. Today I happen to have one of these little USB "sticks",
"keys" or whatever they are called. It contains pics that I need to
retrieve ASAP in order to give the USB thingey back to his owner (not
me).
I thought that in Ubuntu, these USB keys were supposed to show up
automagically on the desktop, but when I plugged mine...absolutely
nothing happens.
I searched the Ubuntu site, thinking it would be well documented, but a
search for "usb mount" returned absolutely nothing useful ! :o(
I also searched www.ubuntuguide.org, but nothing there either...
Could someone take my hand ?? I understand the all USB devices use SCSI
emulation layer ?
I have already a SCSI controller in the machine, with the "sg" module
loaded. So that's one thing less to worry about.
What modules do I need to load, what's the device name going to be, what
to put in fstab ??
Hoping to get it working soon, must give the USB key back in a couple
days maximum... :-/
Regards,
Vince
