Yes! There we are. Add 8139cp to /etc/hotplug/blacklist and if you're
lucky than it'll be done.

P.S.: I had a similar problem with crc32 loading dmfe and tulip. Is the
kernel module loader broken or the ubuntu hotplug scripts?
