Status of gnome-devel in ubuntu (warty)

yes, i know that - that's what i wrote in my original post. It depends
on yet-another-meta-package, gnome-core-devel and _that_ can't be installed
(please see/read my original post).

Given that i only have two apt sources ('warty main restricted universe' and
'warty-security main restricted') the following operation _should_
work: apt-get install -f gnome-core-devel. Instead i get the following:

|  requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
|  distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
|  or been moved out of Incoming.

|  Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
|  the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
|  that package should be filed.

So, is this expected behavior (must resist making comments on expected
stability of gnome developement env.  ;-) or are the dependencies of the gnome
development packages somehow messed up?
