What would be really cool is if the mailing list program, such as
mailman, would place a mailto: field at the end of each message post in
the entire list (for those that take digest form). The feature would
also specify in the mailto tag the poster reply to address, a cc field
to the entire list (if necessary), the subject of that particular post,
and the body of that poster's post. I am pretty sure it can be done in
a way that does not require HTML, but can still be interpreted by most
MUAs. Just the same way as a posted URL can be interpreted as a link
even though no HTML code was given. I feel this would make a nice
mailing list feature, but obviously that is debatable when talking about
meeting RFC and other standards. Below is an example, but obviously, I
don't know how this would work without HTML.
mailto:poster at email.com?subject=Re:%20This%
20Mailinglist&cc=ubuntu-users at lists.ubuntu.com&body=dataFromPost
Let me know what you guys think about something like this. Obviously,
it may not solve the current thread debate anyways...
