usbdisks don't appear on desktop

Yeah I'm currently noticing the same thing with  Hoary on my laptop when
I plug in my usb drive. Nautilus opens and the drive is mounted but no
icon appears on the desktop.

I've been opening a root terminal and doing umount /dev/sda1 to
unmount. If however I reboot with the drive still plugged in it will
then appear on the desktop.
