windows recognition probs

sorry for overloading, getting worse as I get older.
On manually mounting partition I get the following.
Have booted into Windows (98SE) and everything there is working

squareyes at ubuntu:~ $ sudo mount /mnt/windows
Password:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda1,
       or too many mounted file systems
squareyes at ubuntu:~ $
