hi,
been working on getting printing set up for remote CUPS server on
network for an unbearable 16 attemps and this thread did it !

have a local network file server prints for 7 cpu's and Ubuntu's
*Computer* > *System Configuration* > *Printing* didn't want to see it.

after the changes below my defalt Tekronix Phaser 360 printer came up
in the printers configuration window. i tried one more time to set
another new printer that i was guessing at, then went back to the
printer window and ..bam ... there were my network printers.

checked the confguration of the defalt local network printer and it
was:........
NETWORK PRINTER > _HP_JETDIRECT_ > HOST: _10.0.0.##_ (MY PRINTERS IP,
NOT THE CUPS SERVER IP) > PORT : _9100_

#Browsing Off
BROWSING ON

<Location />
Order Deny,Allow
Deny From All
Allow From 127.0.0.1
ALLOW FROM 10.0.0.*
</Location>

#* /etc/rc.d/cups restart*

thanks to the forum members- good job.
ps. some one may want to add some options to the printer config window
to allow for _browsing_on_ for cups client served network printers
