kernel^W linux upgrade via apt

ok.  It's my bad.  I did remove "restricted" from my source.list a
while back since I didn't need any of the non-free packages in that
repository. (makes for a slighty faster synaptic).  So I have only 
linux-image-686 installed on my machine, and didn't install
linux-restricted-modules-686.
