I find Evolution is VERY slow checking my pop mail. My folder has only a
few messages in it. But the mail file on yahoo has over 5000 messages in
it and Evo seems to re-read the whole file as part of chceking for new
mail. This makes it unusable for my POP account.
On Exchange, Offline caching isn't as good as OUtlook. but if I want to
use Linux, it's the only game in town that plays with exchange :-)

Balderdash. I manage over 25,000 emails with courier imap and
evolution, and it is very pleasant. Be sure to check 'Automatically
synchronise remote mail locally' in the Tools->Settings, Edit Primary
Account, Receiving options tab.
