Portability was king for me, as well as an integrated MP3 player. The Casio Exilim EX-M20U 2MP Digital Camera was my choice.

Basically plug and play with ubuntu. Loads as a USB device under /dev/sda1. Its
only a 2MP camera, but its a good quality 2MP, and its tiny. It'll be cheap too, as I think Casio have moved on from it.
