Lost vi/vim

% sudo apt-get remove --purge vim
% sudo apt-get install --reinstall vim

And vim is back...

Yes. Probably that, as kvim has been removed with vim.

Anyhow, would it mean '--reinstall' does not really reinstall?

I think I've also noticed a vim.org. Not sure, it disappeared during the
remove/install. Maybe the side effect of kvim.
