This is a bug which was fixed in version 2.6.9-2 of the Ubuntu packaged
Linux kernel (in other words, it is fixed in Hoary).

There are various ways that you could work around this; whether they would
be simpler for you is difficult to gauge.  You basically need to provide a
copy of the necessary headers, which can be found in the
linux-source-2.6.8.1 source package, someplace where the build can find
them.
