I like mc.  I need mc for a lot of other things anyway.  Once you 
get your ftp server along with remote username and password  on a 
mc "hot key", making a ftp connection only takes a couple of 
key-strokes.  Then, you can copy files back and forth as if your
remote ftp server was a local filesystem.  You can view remote files
and navigate directories.
