The words "very stable" are what triggered my flip response. Very
stable easily outweighs "prefer" unless there's a compelling reason to
run Ubuntu instead. There will be a lot of people who'd prefer to get
away from MS servers, but stick with them because they work.
I've experienced the frustration and wasted time of upgrading a server
that didn't need upgrading. Switching distros entirely could cause
even more headaches than a simple upgrade.
Anyway, I'm sure this person will weigh the pros and cons
appropriately. Without being given any details on such a move, I
would *strongly* recommend sticking with what works. However, if
useful improvement are to be had by switching to Ubuntu, then that'd
be a good idea (though, I imagine that most, if not all of the
desirable software will also run on mandrake... something about OSS
being open ;).
