Install Directory

I'm sorry.  I accidentally deleted an e-mail from this list that was in 
reply to this that seemed to be very helpful.  There was a suggestion 
in it for which directort I might install in.  One of the suggestions 
was "/opt/".  What was the other?  *feels like a clutz*
