(OT) split zip file on the fly

Hello
This is a generall Linux question and not Ubuntu specific but someone
may has an answer.
I would like to zip a large folder to a FAT32 partition. But the
resulting zip file will exceed 2GB. The file size is limited to 2GB on
FAT. Is there a way to split the resulting zip file "on the fly" into
multiply zip files. This multiply zipfiles should be compatible with
windows.
Something similar like in the "old days" where one could span a zip file
over several floppy disks.
Thanks in advance
Thomas
