How-to create a PDF printer at Ubuntu?

OK. I've installed cups-pdf using Synaptic. Then I followed the
instructuion in this Ubuntu wki (in French)
http://www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/FrFaqTechnique#cups-pdf. 

Steps: (so far - tell me what I'm missing)

1. Install cups-pdf in Synaptic from "Universe"
2. Open System/Administration/Printing
3. Select local printer
4. PDF Printer automagically appears
5. Next
6. Select "generic" and then "postscript color printer"
7. Test printed a page 
8. It doesn't work. Little printer icon appears in the panel with a red
exclamation point. Double click to open jobs window. Job(s) are there,
but state is Pending: Printer Stopped.

Can someone please give step 9?
