Japanese Input (un)solved

Ah, I didn't realise posts to the Ubuntu forum show up on the mailing
list.  Yeah, I know I'm new...
Anyway, to put my post in context here, I was replying to wak's post
from October last year:

Since there were no more posts in the thread I wondered if he/she
managed to get it working.  Anyone have any ideas about getting Anthy
and UIM to work with OpenOffice?
