[Hoary] Window list behavior ??

I am bit annoyed with the window list selector applet, I am not sure I
understand its logic, and I can't get it to do what I want :-/
In the properies, there is the "list max size". I set that so that it
fill the available space in my bottom panel, between the "show desktop"
icon on the left, and the workspace switcher on the far right.
That's fine.
Now, the other setting : "MINIMUM list size". I don't see the logic with
this. Say I set it to say 500 pixel or whatever. No matter how many
buttons/apps I put in it, they will never use the max size, only the min
size. If I have 20 buttons, they will never use the "max" size, and the
buttons will be tiny. And the other way around too : if I put only one
button, it takes the whole space, looks ugly and uselessly large if
anything.
My (maybe warped ? ;o), brain would like to see this "min" setting be
ditched, and replaced with two other settings "minimum and maximum size
of the buttons". So would say foir example 50 pixels minimum, and say
250 max for one button, so that it always look not too small and too
big.
Am I the only one to think like this ? Please give me your opinions, the
way this thing works at the moment, really escapes and annoys me.
Vince, trying hard to understand :-/
