With DVD+R and DVD-R writing speeds reaching their theoretical
max, many drive manufacturers have started to focus on faster rewriting
speeds. One of the first drives to take rewriting speeds to the next
level is the NEC ND-3520A. Introduced this winter, the ND-3520A is
capable of 16x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW and 6x DVD-RW writing speeds and has a
maximum DVD read speed of 16x. Faster rewriting speeds aren't the
drive's only notable feature. The ND-3520A is also one of the first
drives to feature the DVD Forum's new DVD-R DL format. According to
NEC, it will be able to write to both DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL media at 4x
once the final specifications are released.
