Well, I may be insane, but I followed the advice in that thread and
then threw caution to the wind and upgraded to the beta version of
Hoary. I can't say it was painless. I had to rerun dist-upgrade
several times, but 600MB and two hours later, I'm on Hoary. Looks good
so far. Booting was much faster and the performance of Gnome seems
improved too. Phew!
