/dev/tty is "the current terminal" - where your stdout is going, even
within an Xterm or whatever.
But, /dev/ttyS0 refers to your serial ports, and therefore it's possible
(but unusual these days) to have a mouse on there.
In any case, /dev/input/mice is likely to be the right place to go,
regardless.
