d-link dwl-122 usb wifi

could the d-link dwl-122 usb wifi adaptor be made to work out of the box in ubunut?
it is possible to set up by installing linux-wlan-ng and fiddling with some config files (see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=4041&highlight=prism ). but if it is your only means of conecting to a network you cant get wlan-ng installed. also it does not show up in the gnome network control pannel.

it would be great if this could be fixed.
